Booking a visit

Visiting the River

The Wear Rivers Trusts can take school trips at the sites below;

  • Sites with coach parking only (no charge)
    • Low Bat, Stanhope
    • Bollihope Burn, Frosterley
  • as above, but also with toilets and hand washing facilities (no charge)
    • The Riverside, Chester-le-Street
    • Wearmouth, Roker, Sunderland
  • as above, but also with indoor/wet weather classroom (subsidies apply to certain schools, contact us for further information)
    • Killhope Museum, Cowshill
    • Harehope Quarry, Frosterley
    • Wetland Centre, Washington

Often these visits can be subsidised and may include visits to the associated site as well as the river. Costs will be negotiated after we've contacted the site managers. There is no charge for our services, and often we can secure a better deal than going through the usual channels.
