Logo Competition
The Wear Rivers Trust is an environmental charity aiming to conserve and enhance the River Wear. It is expanding its role and improving its facilities to provide environmental education and community involvement.
So to further this change in direction the trust wishes to replace its logo, and as part of our community involvement aim we'd like to offer you the chance to get involved and come up with something that demonstrates the trust's aims and objectives and what they mean to you.
Just to give you something to go on, here's our Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Wear Rivers Trust is to conserve, protect, rehabilitate and improve the landscape and watercourses of the whole of the River Wear catchment from the watershed to the estuarine and adjacent coastal areas. The Trust aims to do this by involving individuals, local communities, government agencies and public bodies with proactive improvement works and monitoring, increasing awareness and understanding of the environmental factors that influence the river and its associated wildlife while helping to promote the river as a recreational feature for the enjoyment of all.
Closing Date: 10th June 2011
Competition Winner
After a huge amount of deliberation, the winner was eventually decided as Hannah Renshaws, from Hermitage School, Chester-le-Street. The final logo, based on her design, is shown below.

To me the logo says "clean, simple, full of life and activity all centred around water". I like the reflection idea which also gives the impression of calm, tranquillity and a good place to be, as well as the fact that what happens on the land is reflected in the river condition.
As the quality of the entries were very high we've shortened the selection to these few.
Designs were selected on the ideas they portrayed rather than drawing skill. The selected design will then be tidied up by a graphic designer.
Please note: these images are not in any particular order (other than that which I scanned them in!!)
Design Suggestion: Replace the text with 'The Wear Rivers Trust'
Design Suggestion: Add a ripple line to the bottom - possibly in an arc to allow a circular logo or radiating out from the reedmace
Design Suggestion: Add the word 'Trust' and fade the inverted text
Design Suggestion: Replace 'RWT' with 'WRT'
Design Suggestion: Replace 'RWT' with 'Wear Rivers Trust' in an arc and reduce the waves so they don't clash with the sails or fishing rod. Perhaps extend the arms higher to form a border on each side
Design Suggestion: Replace the text with 'The Wear Rivers Trust' and fade out the text towards the bottom
Design Suggestion: Replace bubbles leaving the fishes' mouths with random bubbles.
