Classroom Activities

The Wear Rivers Trust can help teachers and students understand more about the River Wear by various activities based in the classroom and school grounds.

This includes informative talks, fun activities and even providing advice on building a school pond or using local streams.

Adopt-a-Stream

The Wear Rivers Trust can help you with projects in your neighbourhood. Using streams near to the school helps children to understand their local environment and gives them a sense of what influence they have on the area they live in.

School Trips

We'd like groups to understand the river as a whole, starting from the source at the top of Weardale, down through Wear Valley, across the lowlands and out to the sea. To further this, we'd like to offer schools the option to visit certain points along the river that they may not have been to to find out how the whole of the River Wear plays an important part in our environment. We have a list of sites that schools and groups may visit.
